Endowment Fund Restrictions
Aug 12, 2006
The UUFLG Endowment Fund consists of three restricted funds and one unrestricted fund. The restricted funds are a bequest from Edgar Crane, a deceased member. The unrestricted fund is from both Edgar Crane and Lyda Kruzek, a currently active member. The principal for all of these funds is invested in the UUA Endowment Fund. 5% of the balance of each fund, as of July 1 of each year, is returned to UUFLG for distribution as income in accordance with the following restrictions:
- Partner Church Fund
- Up to $250 may be used to match contributions received from members, the public or designated in the current UUFLG budget to be sent to the UUFLG Partner Church in Transylvania.
- Any remaining funds may be used to match contributions received to encourage the attendance of UUFLG members at the annual UU General Assembly.
- Any funds remaining from the above two allocations may be distributed as directed by the Social Justice Committee.
- Funds not earmarked for distribution by October 1 of each year will be returned to the UUA Endowment Fund to be added to principal.
- Central American Children Fund
- The funds may be used to match contributions received to be donated to support individual children in Central America.
- Any remaining funds from the above allocation may be distributed as directed by the Social Justice Committee.
- Funds not earmarked for distribution by October 1 of each year will be returned to the UUA Endowment Fund to be added to principal.
- Community College Grants and Loans Fund
- The funds may be used to match contributions received to provide grants and loans to UUFLG members attending a community college.
- Any remaining funds from the above allocation may be distributed as directed by the Social Justice Committee.
- Funds not earmarked for distribution by October 1 of each year will be returned to the UUA Endowment Fund to be added to principal.
- Unrestricted Fund
- The funds may be used for any purpose consistent with the Mission Statement of the Fellowship.
- The funds may not be used for expenses currently budgeted for.
- Funds not distributed during one fiscal year may be accumulated for distribution in a later fiscal year.
