Mortality, End of Life, Hospice, and Medical Aid in Dying
Our minister Shams Cohen has worked in hospice for over five years and for four different agencies. From Gilroy to Pinole and Pacifica to Stockton, she has visited many private homes, assisted living and nursing facilities, and board and care homes. She has provided funerals, bereavement education, and grief counseling to numerous surviving loved ones. She has also accompanied twenty plus terminally ill people who chose the time, place, and ambiance for legally ending their own lives, according to the rules and means of California Medical Aid in Dying. Let Shams know your questions in advance and come explore the facts and feelings as we consider mortality and end-of-life care.

Stewardship & Purpose
Stewardship is the responsible and careful management of something entrusted to one’s care. Are we using the resources that we have to craft lives of purpose and meaning? How are we caring for all that comprises UUFLG (members, building, board, staff, land, community, etc), and how do we wish to do so going forward? Are we holding the Fellowship’s mission in mind? Are we using our passions and sense of purpose to inspire our sustainable volunteerism? Are we giving generously of our energy, skills, and financial assets while also allowing ourselves to receive? Join us as we joyously launch the annual pledge drive, exploring the difference between transactional giving and mission-driven investment. –Shams Cohen, UUFLG minister

Stronger Together
To make our world better, each of us must celebrate and share our unique gifts to nurture our planet. As curious, spiritually independent people, our Fellowship strives to provide an open and supportive environment to explore the creativity, strength, and wisdom within the diverse experiences and aspirations of each of us. We find joy and meaning in such a community. And by working together, we strengthen our connections.
|We are a Welcoming Congregation, intentionally and openly taking steps to welcome into our community people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
